J. Morgan Leach is a graduate of West Virginia University College of Law in 2016. Morgan recieved a JD in Energy and Sustainable Development and followed his entrepreneurial spirit by founding a statewide hemp farming cooperative that recruited over 50 farming members to their ranks during its tenure. While still in law school, Morgan helped to shape the hemp industry within the West Virginia Legislature while the cooperative farmed thousands of acres of hemp in over twenty counties across the Mountain State. His advocacy efforts and commitment to public service also led him to campaign for the West Virginia House of Delegates in 2016, 2018, and 2022.
Morgan then started his own law firm, J. Morgan Leach PLLC, in 2018 to continue to serve his community. Morgan is now also working as an associate attorney alongside his father at Jim Leach LC. Morgan is a litigator at heart and his grit is defined by his frequent appearnces in the courtroom. While many attorneys appear before a judge only a few times a year, Morgan is in and out of the courtroom on a weekly basis. Morgan has litigated hundreds of criminal, family, and civil cases in both state and federal courts in Ohio and West Virginia. His extensive advocacy includes bench trials, jury trials, and appellate proceedigns before Magistrate, Family, Circuit Courts in WV, Magistrate and Common Pleas Courts in OH, the WV Intermediate Court of Appeals, the WV Supreme Court of Appeals, and the 4th District Court of Appeals in Ohio.
This robust litigation track record and his dedication to client interests have earned him the prestigue of becoming a Super Lawyers Rising Star for four consecutive years (2023–2026). Morgan was also named Top 40 Under 40 by the National Trial Lawyers Assocaition in 2025 and Top 10 under 40 by NTL in 2026. Outside of his demanding legal practice, Morgan is a man devoted to nature and family. He recharges by hunting, fishing, and working the soil in his garden. He resides in Wood County with his wife, Alexis, and their three children: Julian, Azalea, and Ruby.
